About Wild Alaskan pollock
The Alaskan pollock or walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) is a marine fish species of the cod genus Gadus and family Gadidae. It is a semi-pelagic schooling fish widely distributed in the North Pacific, with largest concentrations found in the eastern Bering Sea. Alaska pollock is the world's second most important fish species, after the Peruvian anchoveta, in terms of total catch. Pollock oil and pollock meal is made from the nutritious production offcuts and leads to a 100 % utilisation of the fish.
About Atlantic salmon
Farmed salmon from the Atlantic is among the most sustainable sources of marine ingredients. Farmed salmon as food for humans has the lowest carbon footprint of any main livestock protein and UN and other international experts have acknowledged, aquaculture provides one of the best solutions to feeding the world’s burgeoning population in the years to come. Salmon oil and salmon meal is made from the nutritious offcuts from the salmon production and leads to a 100 % utilisation of the fish - making the world class salmon sustainability story even better!About algae
The most commonly used source for algal oil is Schizochytrium sp. but there are more sources coming to market. It is produced through a fermentation process (either open ponds or closed tanks) where the conditions and the specific microalgae strain used are defining the content of EPA and DHA. Algal oil is an important proven, consistent and sustainable vegan omega-3 alternative. Both meeting the growing global consumer demand for vegan products, but also the general omega-3 demand because of the limitations on fish oil production.
About krill from Antarctic waters
In omega-3 oils extracted from Antarctic krill the essential fatty acids is bound to water-soluble phospholipids. Among others they also are high on the very potent antioxidant Astaxanthin, hence the deep red colour. The fishery is taking place in specific - and highly monitored to prevent overfishing - areas in ice cold waters surrounding Antarctica. This, combined with very agile harvesting techniques, makes the krill fishery especially well managed and sustainable.
